Me & couple buddies recently did a number on some northern pike with tips ups. This Northern Michigan lake has an over population of pike that is affecting
the pan fish population. This trip was great in the fact that we were able to help take a few pike out of the system & had a lot of fun doing it. Pike are also very good table fair as long as you know how to remove the Y bones. Typically I’m a big proponent of catch & release when it comes to large esox such as pike & Muskie. However there are several Northern Michigan lakes with overpopulations of northern pike that the DNR has lowered size limits on. These are great lakes to target pike on with tip ups & can stand to have a few taken home to the table.
